I’m a freelance journalist and editor for hire. Though I write a lot about environment, I’ve proven to be a diverse writer, covering social issues, local food, pop culture, business, health, arts and music. I’ve been contributing to alt weekly the Mirror since 2004 and have been published by the Montreal Gazette, OpenFile Montreal, Xtra.ca, Herizons, This Magazine, Punk Magazine (NYC), Canadian Dimension, Worn Fashion Journal and a number of student publications. I’ve written for both print and web publication and adhere to Canadian Press style. See below for links to a selection of my work and continued coverage.

Roller derby coverage
I’ve been writing about roller derby since 2006, when I met Montreal league founder Alyssa Kwasny at Concordia University. Writing my first story about her and the then-new Montreal league prompted me to become a referee, though that was before the league began playing competitive games in earnest. Now I’m completely unaffiliated—I’m just a fan, and occasionally, a sports writer.

Paul Richard human rights complaint coverage
I was assigned to write about Paul Richard’s progressing court case against the federal government by my then-editor at Xtra. Richard filed a human rights complaint against the Canadian government based in events that happened over 25 years ago. His first obstacle was challenging the Canadian Human Rights Commission to have his expired complaint heard, which he won. His case went all the way to the Supreme Court, but it was denied a hearing and his case was thrown out.
